Golf Cart Parts and Accessories

It may not be the first thing you think about when you are out shopping for a new golf cart but parts and accessories should be on your list of 'things to consider'.

Anyone who has ever bought a new family car will know only too well that it will not be long before the servicing bills start coming in and, depending on the make and model of car you have bought, parts can form a very large part of your bill.

Ideally, you should of course try to buy parts from your own golf cart manufacturer as these will not only meet the exact specifications of the vehicle, but will also provide you with the right level of safety and performance. So, taking a look at the manufacturer's catalog and price list before you buy is never a bad idea and if you are buying a Club Car, E-Z-GO or Yamaha cart, for example, you should make sure that manufacturer's parts and accessories are not too expensive.

The same rule applies to accessories as you will almost certainly want to add to your golf cart over time either for reasons of practicality or simply for looks.

For example, you might decide to add a lift kit to give you greater ground clearance to meet changing conditions or to provide enhanced suspension and thus a more comfortable ride.

Similarly, you might decide to add a storage box, cargo net or rear-facing seat kit for extra carrying capacity or a cooler box for those long hot days out in the sun. And how about a custom dash, an overhead stereo console, some colorful seat covers, fancy fenders and wheel trims, a winch, towing bar or spot lights?

Whether you are buying an electric or gas powered golf cart simply to potter around the gold course or as a utility vehicle the cost of parts and accessories can add up very quickly and these future costs should be factored carefully into your initial purchase decision.

Note. You can of course often save money by buying generic parts and accessories and this can certainly be a tempting option. Bear in mind however that safety must always be one of your main considerations in any purchase and do your homework to ensure that whatever you are saving in cash terms you are not losing by compromising your safety and that of your passengers.
