Golf Cart Lift Kits

The first time I heard the term 'golf cart lift kit' I tried to imagine just what it might be and my best guess was that it was either something to lift your golf cart off the ground so that you could get underneath it for servicing or that it was something to attach to your cart so that it could be hoisted onto a trailer or other form of transport vehicle. In both cases of course I was wrong.

Golf cart lift kits are in fact simply designed to raise the height of your golf car and to improve its suspension and are generally fitted to vehicles to provide added clearance to allow the vehicle to perform specific tasks or to give a better ride quality, particularly on older vehicles.

It is always advisable, if you can afford to do so, to choose a lift kit from your own golf cart's manufacturer for two reasons.

• First, the kit is specifically designed to fit your vehicle and so you will not run into problems during installation or in use.


• Second, golf cart manufacturers have a reputation which they guard jealously and so the lift kit is going to be manufactured to the same high standards as the cart itself.

If, however, price is an important consideration then it is possible to purchase lift kits from a range of general manufacturers but you must shop around and do your research carefully to ensure that any kit you are considering is compatible with your vehicle and is manufactured to acceptable standards in terms of both safety and performance. In the pictures above you will see a number of Club Car lift kits which range from a lift of 4 inches to 10 inches and which are easy to fit requiring no cutting or welding and can simply be bolted onto the vehicle. Some can also lengthen the wheelbase and adjust the camber of your vehicle.

Prices of golf cart lift kits vary considerably from one supplier to the next so do your homework and shop around before making your choice.
